Medtronic PLC (NYSE:MDT), headquartered in Galway, Ireland, is the leading global healthcare technology company, stock rose 0.10% (As on November 19, 11:58:13 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 results that exceeded analyst expectations, with the medical device maker raising its full-year guidance on the strength of its cardiovascular portfolio and other growth drivers. Overall, procedure volumes and the end markets are robust. Q2 GAAP operating profit and operating margin were $1.686 billion and 18.8%, respectively, an increase of 6% and a decrease of 20 basis points, respectively. Q2 GAAP net income and diluted earnings per share (EPS) were $1.374 billion and $1.07, respectively, both increases of 8%. Medtronic also highlighted recent regulatory wins, including favorable coverage determinations for its Symplicity procedure for uncontrolled hypertension and FDA approval for its Altaviva device for urge urinary incontinence.
Moreover, Cardiovascular Portfolio revenue of $3.436 billion, an increase of 10.8% as reported and 9.3% organic, with a mid-teens increase in Cardiac Rhythm & Heart Failure, high-single digit increase in Structural Heart & Aortic, and low-single digit increase in Coronary & Peripheral Vascular, all on an organic basis. MDT in the second quarter of FY26 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $1.36, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $1.31. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 6.6 percent to $9 billion in the second quarter of FY26, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $8.87 billion. Revenue increased 5.5% on an organic basis.
Based on its first-half performance, Medtronic raised its fiscal 2026 organic revenue growth guidance to approximately 5.5%, up from its previous forecast of 5.0%. The company also increased its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $5.62 to $5.66, compared to the prior range of $5.60 to $5.66, which is in line with the analyst consensus of $5.62.
