Because of potential fire hazard, the giant automotive company, Mercedes-Benz is going to recall around 308.000 cars across the United States in the near future. The recalling plan is the result of 35 Mercedes-Benz car fires in the country. After conducting comprehensive investigation on the cases, Daimler AG (the parent company) admitted existence of problems in the engine part. The problems may cause electrical fire.
The company was not aware of the possible injuries and even death because of the engine issues, and no report had been accepted from the car owners. However, to prevent unwanted things, the company decided to recall the cars. It is actually a voluntary option from the company. The management had called the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to help it in carrying out the recall program.
According to the company rep, they will recall certain vehicles from C Class, E-Class, CLA and GLA, as well as GLC. The possible fire hazard certainly occurs in rate situation, in which the car is dumped off much standing water and engine does not work, making the car unable to restart. If this happens, the owners of those car series had better retain from restarting the car again, since repeated trial makes it possible to trigger fire. The fire may cause of overheated or melted current limiter in the starter motor.

What Mercedes-Benz Is Going to Do with The Recall
The company is setting a plan to notify and alert its customers across the United States within more than 60 days to go. When finding or suspecting issues with the engine, the car owners are expected to bring the car to the official Mercedes-Benz dealer. The time it takes to fix the issue is only about one hour. After the fix, the car is safe.
Online media reported that the recall program actually involves around 700.000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles outside the United States. However, in an interview with an online media, the company rep had not been able to verify the number. Mercedes-Benz’s parent – Daimler AG – neither provide quick response related to the number of involved cars outside the United States.
Some other media reported that around 51 fires had actually happened across the globe, even though most cases happened in the United States. The company also decides to delay selling the cars on dealer until the issues are fixed by adding additional fuse. In other words, customers that have ordered the car but not yet received one still need to wait for the fix.
So, if you own one of those models, a Mercedes-Benz representative will possibly have called you by the end of this month to notify the possible risk. Then, the company will call again when the parts to address the issue is available in July this year.
Mercedes-Benz Is Not Alone?
Actually, Mercedes-Benz is not the only company, which recalls its car this year. Buick laCrosse sedans are reportedly being recalled because of problems with electrical connector. As it is not properly sealed, the part may let water to enter and cause corrosion. Ford is also doing the same thing with its Edge and Lincoln MKX models as well as Continental models. Tesla and BMW also did the same thing several weeks ago.
