MetaMask Integrates Hyperliquid for On-Chain Perpetual Trading
The newly introduced futures trading feature is powered by Hyperliquid, a decentralized perpetuals exchange known for high-speed derivatives trading. Through this integration, MetaMask users can access perpetual futures markets for major crypto assets such as Bitcoin ($BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH) while maintaining self-custody of their funds.
According to MetaMask, the additional features include real-time watchlists, position monitoring, unrealized profit and loss tracking, funding rates, and recent trading activity directly inside the wallet extension. By embedding these capabilities directly into MetaMask, the company aims to simplify access to advanced crypto trading tools for its existing user base. Earlier, its users utilize the wallet for only decentralized finance (DeFi), token swaps, and NFT-related activities.
MetaMask Expands Beyond Wallet Services with In-App Perpetual Trading
The launch marks a notable expansion of MetaMask’s functionality beyond basic wallet services and token swaps. By integrating perpetual futures trading, the company is positioning itself as a broader on-chain trading and decentralized finance hub.
The feature allows users to trade perpetual contracts directly from their browser-based wallet experience without transferring assets to separate exchanges. Decentralized perpetual trading platforms have gained significant traction across the crypto sector in recent years, largely due to their ability to offer leveraged trading, deep liquidity, and continuous market access without depending on conventional centralized exchanges.
The rollout comes amid increasing interest in decentralized derivatives platforms and on-chain trading infrastructure. Industry participants have been steadily shifting toward decentralized trading solutions that provide greater transparency and asset control.
