To strengthen its financial resources, Myanmar is to witness the soft start of its first-ever cryptocurrency-only bank on July 22. The National Unity Government (NUG) of Myanmar is currently operating in exile. It has been leading the charge against the reigning State Administration Council (SAC).

Furthermore, it will provide access to a wide range of banking services globally. A representative from the Spring Development Bank recently expressed thoughts about the crypto adoption. He says that crypto is the best mean to aid the people of Myanmar and their exiled government.

The crypto bank has received the group’s full backing and resources. The NUG has not officially established it. They have issued the bank’s license and now regulating its operations. The bank’s CEO stated that the institution’s opening marks a significant step towards restoring Myanmar’s economic independence.

The temporary central bank governor and Myanmar’s acting minister of finance and industry is Tin Tun Naing. He emphasized the importance of an alternative financial system. The military-based banking system is in turmoil, so the government should protect it. The Spring Development Bank is expected to help citizens protect their investments.

Conventional ways of transferring money back to the nation have been burdened by high costs. Sometimes it reaches as much as 30%. By building the bank on the Polygon platform, the officials ensured a cost-effective and sustainable solution.

The bank plans to introduce multiple fiat-pegged stablecoins. It has back of currencies like the U.S. dollar, Singapore dollar, Thai baht, and Myanmar kyat. It also enables customers to trade these assets for stablecoins through the bank’s currency swap tool on UniSwap V3.

It has given the Myanmar government’s tendency to take action against those expressing support for the NUG. The bank’s user interface will be designed as a web-only system. It will ensure privacy and security for its users.

The NUG previously made the dollar-backed stablecoin Tether a legal currency for international trade on December 31, 2021. In this regard, it gained recognition from several United Nations and European Parliament members. However, the U.S. government is yet to acknowledge the exiled administration as Myanmar’s legitimate government.
