Netflix, Inc.(NASDAQ: NFLX) has reported an adjusted earnings per share growth of 15 cents in the fourth quarter of 2016 endeat31st December, beating the analysts’ estimates. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 35.9 percent to $2.48 billion in the fourth quarter 2016, again beating the analysts’ estimates of revenue of $2.47 billion. The operating profit grew 6.2 percent to $154 million against the company’s guidance of $125 million, and the net income amounted to $67 million, as compared with the NFLX’s forecast of $56 million.

Netflix has added 7.05 million net new members globally in the fourth quarter 2016, exceeding the forecast of 5.20 million and last year’s Q4 performance of 5.59 million. This is the largest quarter of net additions in the company’s history driven by the US and International segments. NFLK has added 1.93 million members in the Q4 quarter, exceeding the forecast of 1.45 million and 1.56 million in the year-ago quarter in the domestic market. There is international membership growth by 5.12 million in Q4, against the estimation of 3.75 million and 4.04 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The analysts’ had expected 3.73 million international membership additions and 1.44 million in the domestic market. In addition, NFLX is expecting 5.2 million net additions with 1.5 million in the US and 3.7 million internationally.
Jerry Seinfeld is joining NFLX in a content deal in which he would create an exclusive new content for the video streaming service. The deal also include new episodes of his series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee starting to show up on NFLX in 2017. As per the deal there will be 24 new episodes released and 59 existing episodes of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee to NFLX. More new episodes are being planned for 2018. Additionally, Jerry Seinfeld will also film two new stand-up comedy shows that will come exclusively to the service and the first of these will show up later in 2017. He will also help develop scripted and non-scripted comedy shows for this video streaming service.
NFLX stock has risen 28.09% in the last one year (as of January 18th, 2017; Source: Google Finance) and delivered a 7.6% returns in this year to date. Netflix rose 6.6% in the pre-market trading session today.
