A new announcement by CME Group, published on Monday, December 22, revealed the launch of the FanDuel Predicts app. Launched by FanDuel, the premier online gaming company in North America and part of Flutter Entertainment, and CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, the new app went live in Alabama, Alaska, South Carolina, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
According to the CME statement, the partners are beginning a phased national rollout, which will arrive in the coming weeks.
CME Group also said that FanDuel Predicts will expand access to financial and sports markets for millions of American customers in the months to come. Commenting further, CME Group said that the app will provide customers with a platform to express their views on the day’s biggest stories across financial indicators, cultural moments, as well as sports.
What Does FanDuel Predicts Offer?
The app will be available for both Android and iOS devices in their native app stores and will integrate FanDuel’s KYC sign-up process, meaning that customers will have to provide certain private information, such as date of birth, SSN, home address, banking information, as well as a government-issued ID.
Once the Predicts account is successfully created, users will be able to buy or sell event contracts ranging in price from as little as $0.01 to $0.99 simply by choosing between “Yes” or “No,” depending on whether they think a certain event will happen or not.
CME Group further explained that the platform will offer event contracts in all 50 states on benchmarks such as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100, as well as prices of oil and gas, gold, cryptocurrencies, and various key economic indicators, like GDP and CPI.
Apart from financial markets, sports contracts will also be available, including a wide range of popular sports such as baseball, basketball, football, and hockey in states where online sports betting is not legal, except on tribal lands. However, should these states legalize online sports betting in the future, FanDuel Predicts will cease offering sports event contracts in those states.
FanDuel’s Senior VP for Flywheel and New Ventures, James Cooper, commented on the move, saying: “We’re giving our customers a new platform to engage with the world around them – whether that’s the next Fed rate decision or a sports event. This launch in five states will provide valuable insights into customer engagement with this new platform, enabling us to refine our approach as we expand to additional states in 2026.”
Meanwhile, CME Group’s President and CFO, Lynne Fitzpatrick, said: “CME Group prediction markets will enable a new generation of users to express their views on global benchmarks, economic indicators, sports, and more. This launch is a pivotal step for expanding the reach of our products to FanDuel’s millions of registered users across the U.S.”
