NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ:NXPI) stock fell 2.73% (As on July 22, 11:14:35 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company delivered a forecast that was perhaps less bullish than some investors had been hoping for. The automotive segment delivered $1.73 billion in revenue in the quarter, flat from a year earlier. Sales from the communications and infrastructure business fell 27%, to $320 million, mobile sales were down 4%, to $331 million, and industrial and IoT sales fell 11%, to $546 million.
Meanwhile, NXP announced its third generation imaging processors for Level 2+ to Level 4 Autonomous Driving. The new S32R47 imaging radar processors in 16 nm FinFET technology, delivers up to twice the processing power versus the previous generation, building upon NXP’s proven expertise and global market leadership in the automotive radar market. NXP and Rimac Technology has recently announced the co-development of a software defined vehicle (SDV) architecture for advanced automotive domain and zonal control. The jointly developed solution features NXP’s S32E2 processors, which are part of NXP’s comprehensive S32 Automotive Processing Platform. The S32E addresses the vehicle’s need for high-performance deterministic real-time domain and zonal control in a multi-applications environment. The company has also announced the completion of the acquisition of TTTech Auto, a leader in innovating unique safety-critical systems and middleware for software-defined vehicles (SDVs), pursuant to the terms of the previously announced agreement from January 2025.
NXPI in the second quarter of FY25 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $2.72, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $2.67. The company had reported the adjusted revenue decline of 6 percent to $2.93 billion in the second quarter of FY25, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $2.9 billion.
Additionally, Cash flow from operations was $779 million, with net capex investments of $83 million, resulting in non-GAAP free cash flow of $696 million. Capital return during the quarter was $461 million, representing 66 percent of second quarter non-GAAP free cash flow. Share buybacks were $204 million and dividends paid during the quarter were $257 million.
For the coming quarter, NXPI said it’s expecting third-quarter earnings of between $2.89 and $3.30 per share on revenue of between $3.05 billion and $3.25 billion. The wider-than-usual guidance range suggests some uncertainty, though it did come in ahead of the Street’s forecasts of $3.06 per share in earnings and $3.05 billion in sales.
