The NZD/USD currency pair has seen consecutive gains, reaching around 0.6010 in the Asian session on Thursday. The New Zealand dollar benefited from positive Chinese data, despite facing US dollar strength driven by Federal Reserve sentiment favoring higher interest rates.

Chinese imports (YoY) exceeded expectations, rising by 8.4% in April, while Exports also grew, surpassing analyst forecasts. However, the Trade Balance USD slightly missed expectations. In New Zealand, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) indicated a delay in monetary easing due to higher inflation pressures.
The US dollar gained support from Fed expectations of sustained higher rates, reflected in rising US Treasury yields. Hawkish remarks from Fed officials further strengthened the US dollar.
Trade Idea:
Traders can watch for shifts in Fed sentiment and economic data from China and New Zealand, as they influence the NZD/USD pair. Changes in central bank stances and trade relations may impact trading strategies for the pair.
