OANDA Global Corporation has announced that it will oversee its European operations from Poland. The brokerage firm is being regulated by the KNF alongside the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (PFSA).

OANDA is expanding its brokerage services to the European Union. The broker operates in the EU under OANDA TMS Brokers SA, which also runs a registered office in Warsaw. The expansion of OANDA’s services into Europe comes after the broker halted its operations in Malta, saying it was a strategic decision.

The head of Europe for OANDA, Marcin Niewiadomski, noted that the company’s expansion into the European region was an exciting chapter for the company and an opportunity to grow. He noted that Poland was a “natural” choice for the company.

“This is an exciting new chapter and a significant growth opportunity for OANDA in the EU. We want to serve the client in the best way possible, so we made the decision to base our operations in Poland. This was a natural choice, as it will enable us to build the OANDA brand on the strengths of OANDA TMS,” Niewiadomski said.

The creation of OANDA’s office in Poland and its focus on growing its European operations come after the company closed the acquisition of a Polish brokerage company, Dom Maklerski TMS Brokers S.A., previously known as TMS Brokers. Following this acquisition, the Polish broker has since been rebranded to OANDA TMS.

TMS Brokers is one of the oldest brokerage companies in Poland, having been founded in 1997. The broker was also the second-largest in Poland, previously owned by ForeVest Capital.

OANDA is growing its European operations

OANDA had announced plans to stop offering brokerage services under its Maltese subsidiary. Instead, the brokerage firm announced that it would shift its operations to Poland for consolidation purposes and would operate in the region under OANDA TMS.

Niewiadomski noted that the company had refocused its operations, traders, and investors within the EU under OANDA TMS. As such, these stakeholders would now access a wide range of assets offered by a trusted and regulated brokerage firm.

OANDA is a major player in the brokerage sector. The company ventured into the forex trading business in 1996 and currently operates in some of the largest markets globally. Besides being licensed in Poland, OANDA is licensed in countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

OANDA is also currently focused on growing its cryptocurrency operations. In 2022, the brokerage company announced a partnership deal with Paxos to offer crypto trading services within the United States.

The brokerage firm has also focused on strengthening its executive team. Last year, it made several strategic appointments, such as former Prime XM executive Galin Georgiev, who joined as the Head of Product Operations. It also appointed Jessica Beckstead as the Managing Director for North America and the Chief Executive Officer for the United States.
