PriceSmart Inc (NASDAQ:PSMT) Exceeds Analyst Expectations

Net merchandise sales grew 9.9% to $1.47 billion from $1.33 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2025. Net merchandise sales – constant currency increased 7.8% over the comparable prior-year period. Comparable net merchandise sales for the 54 warehouse clubs open for more than 13½ months increased 7.6% for the 13-week period ended March 1, 2026. Foreign currency fluctuations positively impacted net merchandise sales by $27.7 million, or 2.1%. The company operated 56 warehouse clubs as of February 28, 2026, compared to 54 clubs a year earlier. Net income rose 12.2% to $49.1 million compared to $43.8 million in the same quarter last year. Operating income increased to $75.4 million from $65.3 million in the prior-year period. Adjusted EBITDA reached $99.7 million, up from $87.0 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2025.

Moreover, the warehouse club operator announced plans to open its eighth location in Guatemala, in Villa Nueva, approximately 13 miles south of Guatemala City. The new club is anticipated to open in spring 2027. Once this location and four other previously announced clubs are operational, PriceSmart will operate 61 warehouse clubs across 12 countries and one U.S. territory. Revenue growth was driven by higher transactions (+7.5%/7.9% for quarter/six months) and a modest ticket increase (+2.2%/2.1%). Digital sales grew 23.4% to $94.1M, representing 6.4% of net sales; Click & Go pickup/delivery and mobile app modernization are expanding. Membership income rose 16.9% in the quarter; platinum members increased to 19.5% of the base and trailing 12‑month renewal hit a record 90.2%. Meanwhile, the company’s investments in supply chain and systems—RELEX, Elera POS, Workday HCM, E2Open and a China distribution center—are intended to lower costs, improve inventory and enhance trade compliance. PSMT in the second quarter of FY 26 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $1.62, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $1.57, according to analysts polled by FactSet. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 9.7 percent to $1.5 billion in the second quarter of FY 26, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $1.48 billion.
