The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk. The lawsuit centers on Musk’s purchase of Twitter stock early this year. The SEC says Musk failed to disclose his ownership above 5% of Twitter stock in time. However, under federal law, this must be reported within 10 days. However, Musk allegedly failed to meet this deadline and reported his ownership 11 days later.

The purchases of Twitter shares began by Musk in March 2022. By April 2022, he began purchasing more stock and he now controls the company. In October 2022, he actually bought Twitter for $44 billion. The SEC lawsuit follows a series of chargers against Musk. It also included another suit the SEC filed against him in 2018 over a tweet about Tesla.
