Semiconductor stock to watch: Jabil Inc (NYSE: JBL)

Jabil Inc (NYSE: JBL) has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $0.64 in the fourth quarter of FY 17, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $0.62. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 35.9 percent to $5.02 billion in the fourth quarter of FY 17, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $4.86 billion.

For the current quarter ending in December, JBL expects its earnings-per-share to range from 65 cents to 91 cents. The company expects revenue to be in the range of $5.25 billion to $5.75 billion for the fiscal first quarter. The analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $5.61 billion. JBL expects to deliver core earnings-per-share of $2.60 in 2018 and $3.00 in 2019.

For the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2017, the core operating income ((Non-U.S. GAAP) was $191.5 million and for FY17, the core operating income was $667.0 million.

In the FY 17, Jabil has reported 4 percent growth in the net revenue, 13 percent growth in the core diluted earnings per share (Non-U.S. GAAP) of 13 percent and cash flow from operations of $1.26 billion.

Additionally, Diversified Manufacturing revenue was up 32% on the year to about $2.85 billion. For the first quarter of FY 18,  JBL expects the segment to have a 13% growth on the year to $2.7 billion. Electronics Manufacturing revenue rose 3% in the quarter to about $2.15 billion. The first quarter of FY 18 outlook expects a 3% year-over-year growth to $2.8 billion.

On the other hand, Erich Hoch has challenged standard operating practices as executive vice president and CEO of Jabil Circuit Inc.’s Digital Solutions group, including its Packaging Solutions division. Hoch has perspectives on emerging demands of end-market customers. The recent technology such as hands-free voice-controlled devices, the consumers are moving more and more toward an instant gratification model. Jabil’s largest customers include Apple Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., Dell Technologies Inc., General Electric Co., HP Inc., Ingenico SA, Telefonaktiebolaget L.M. Ericsson, NetApp Inc., Valeo SA and Zebra Technologies Corp.
