Yes, the plan will begin in the United States and be expanded to other parts of the world. Therefore, as a form of its respect upon the military families and veterans, the company will open 100 new stores dedicated for these groups in the United States for the next 5 years. So far, there have been 32 chains, which are supported by military spouses, advocates, and veterans.

In addition, Starbucks hiring effort will also target young people, including teens, who are looking forward to developing their leadership skills. The company reported that it has hired more than 40.000 young people throughout the United States. It targets young people who are about to start their careers.

Starbucks Hiring Effort for Humanity Keeps Continuing

Starbucks is also continuing its job creation efforts for refugees. As announced in January this year, the company would hire 10.000 refugees by 2022. For this, it has participated in some campaigns and partnerships, such as #WithRefugees campaign, in which it collaborated with International Rescue Committees. It also collaborated with Tent Partnership of Refugees to recruit refugees.

Schultz said that recruiting refugees is a part of the company’s contribution for humanity. For him, the company has a moral obligation and responsibility to do something for them, since business is not always about profits. Rather, business is also responsible for the community. Despite some complains that giving jobs for the refugees mean reducing jobs that can be filled by the US citizens, the company will continue the humanity program.

Howard Schultz will resign as the CEO in April and he will be replaced by Kevin Johnson. Schultz believed that the new CEO would continue what the company had done, namely hiring military families and veterans, teens and young people, as well as refugees. The company will certainly support the US President Donald Trump’s program for bringing back jobs to the US. Starbucks hiring effort will begin in its hometown and then expanded to other countries.
