State Street Corp (NYSE:STT) stock rose 0.54% (As on October 19, 11:48:04 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company posted a fall in profit in the latest quarter, with revenue slipping on a decline in fee-based income. The company said net income for the third quarter fell to $690 million from $714 million, a year earlier. Fee revenue declined 8% because of market conditions and currency headwinds. Servicing and management fees decreased 12% and 10%, respectively, the company said. Net interest income increased to $660 million from $487 million thanks to rising global interest rates across the yield curve. Equity-focused ETFs at State Street, which manages 141 U.S.-traded ETFs, performed the worst in the quarter among that issuer’s asset classes, with $9 billion in outflows. Alternative investments reported $7 billion in losses, while fixed income funds brought in $2 billion. The lackluster performance was “largely due to lower equity and fixed income market levels.

Moreover, Investment Servicing AUC/A as of quarter-end decreased 18% to $35.7 trillion, primarily driven by lower market levels, a previously disclosed client transition and the impact of currency translation, partially offset by new business installations. Investment Management AUM as of quarter-end decreased 15% to $3.3 trillion, mainly reflecting lower market levels, Institutional net outflows and the impact of currency translation, partially offset by ETF and Cash net inflows. Standardized common equity tier 1 (CET1) of 13.2% decreased 0.3% points compared to 3Q21 and increased 0.3% points compared to 2Q22, primarily reflecting higher retained earnings and well controlled risk weighted assets (RWA). Tier 1 leverage ratio of 6.4% increased 0.1% points and 0.4% points compared to 3Q21 and 2Q22, respectively ROE of 11.2% decreased 0.4% points and 0.9% points compared to 3Q21 and 2Q22, respectively.
STT in the third quarter of FY 22 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $1.80, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $1.78. The company had reported 1 percent fall in the adjusted revenue to $2.96 billion in the third quarter of FY 22, slightly missing the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $2.97 billion, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet.
Additionally, in 3Q22, State Street returned a total of $232 million of capital to shareholders through declared common dividends of $0.63 per share. The company intends to repurchase approximately $1 billion of common stock in 4Q22
