Sanofi SA (ADR)(NYSE: SNY) stock fell 2.2% (as of 27 Apr, 1:44 PM GMT-4; source: google finance). The first-quarter 2018 IFRS earnings per share fell 82% to €0.81 due to a gain on disposal of the Animal Health business in 2017. SNY continues to expect 2018 Business earnings per share to grow in the range of 2% and 5% at CER(7) barring unforeseen major adverse events. Applying the average April 2018 exchange rates, the currency impact on 2018 Business earnings per share is estimated to be around -7%.
On the other hand, the group reported a €1.5bn share buyback program is expected to be completed in mid-2019. Further, SNY has strengthened leadership in Specialty Care through the addition of a Rare Blood Disorder franchise.
SNY in the first quarter of FY 18 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $0.79, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $0.74. The company had reported 8.7 percent fall in the adjusted revenue to $7.90 billion in the first quarter of FY 18, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $7.88 billion.

Moreover, in the first quarter 2018, Sanofi Genzyme sales grew strongly, which is up 16.2%, due to the contribution from the new immunology franchise. Vaccines sales fell 0.9% but reflected strong performance in EU, offset by expected Pentaxim supply constraint in China. CHC sales rose 2.0% due to the double-digit growth in Emerging Markets. However, in the first quarter 2018, Diabetes and Cardiovascular GBU sales down 15.7% and global Diabetes franchise sales fell 10.0%. Emerging Markets sales has grown 8.3%, driven by double-digit growth in China and Latin America

In addition, Dupixent supplemental BLA is filed in the U.S., Japan and EU for moderate-to-severe asthma in adults and adolescents. Cemiplimab has been filed in EU for metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and Sotagliflozin submitted in the U.S. and EU for type 1 diabetes.
