T-Mobile Us Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) stock rose 5.62% (As on July 24, 11:30:11 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company delivered a record-setting second quarter, beating Wall Street estimates on earnings and revenue. T-Mobile also raised its full-year guidance, citing its upcoming joint venture with KKR & Co to acquire Metronet, a fiber-optic internet provider. T-Mobile added 1.7 million postpaid customers during the quarter, its best-ever second quarter result, including 830,000 postpaid phone net additions, surpassing FactSet estimates of 700,300 additions. The company’s 5G broadband business continued to expand rapidly, adding 454,000 customers, a 12% annual increase. Service revenues rose 6% to $17.4 billion, while postpaid service revenues increased 9% to $14.1 billion, both leading the industry. Net income expanded 10% year-over-year to $3.2 billion, the company’s highest ever for a single quarter. Net cash provided by operating activities of $7.0 billion grew 27% year-over-year. Moreover, T-Mobile’s postpaid Experience plans, launched in April, have resonated well with customers. These plans bundle streaming services such as Netflix and Apple TV+ and come with a five-year price guarantee. The plans also include the carrier’s satellite service T-Satellite that was made available to its own users and those of rivals Verizon and AT&T earlier. The carrier’s aggressive promotions and add-on perks have helped it maintain an edge over rivals and increase market share. It also reached a deal to sell its entire portfolio of 800 megahertz licenses to private investment firm Grain Management for $2.9 billion in cash and all of Grain’s 600 MHz spectrum licenses. The Bellevue, Washington-based company plans to close its $4.4 billion acquisition of regional wireless carrier United States Cellular on August 1, after the U.S. Federal Communications Commission approved it earlier in July.
TMUS in the second quarter of FY25 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $2.84, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $2.68. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 6.9 percent to $21.13 billion in the second quarter of FY25, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $20.99 billion.
The strong financial performance prompted T-Mobile to raise its 2025 guidance, projecting postpaid customer additions between 6.1 million and 6.4 million, up from the previous range of 5.5 million to 6.0 million. Core Adjusted EBITDA is expected to reach as high as $33.7 billion, a modest increase from earlier projections.
