Chowdhury has made a name for himself in the London financial sector. He will be joining one of Tickmill’s greatest competitors, Trading212, as the CEO. Chowdhury announced his new role through an update on his LinkedIn status.  He will be replacing Nick Saunders, who transferred to GAIN Capital as the Head of Cash Equities.

Chowdhury is a renowned figure in the trading industry. He has more than twenty years of experience working at various top-level companies based in London. His expertise lies in the finance division as he had lead top financial divisions at several companies.

Before this position, he was working at Tickmill as the Group CFO. However, he only held the position for one and half years before his recent appointment. Prior to Tickmill, he had worked at London Capital Group for four years as the UK CEO and the Chief Financial Officer.

Besides this, he has also served for more than five years at GAIN Capital (StoneX) as the Financial Director of International Operations. He also worked at an affiliate of StoneX, City Index, as the Group’s Financial Controller.

Other than his work qualifications, Chowdhury’s academic excellence also makes him a perfect fit for his new role. He is a graduate of economics from the University of East London. His career in the financial sector started in 2002 as an Interest Rate Derivatives Controller at ING. The other firms he has worked in include JPMorgan Chase and Matrix Group Limited.

Hyper-growth phase

Chowdhury has joined Trading212 at a critical time when the demand for retail trading is increasing. Recently, Trading212 was experiencing trading glitches during hyperactive trading hours. Traders are waiting to see whether the firm will improve on this after Chowdhury assumes his new role.

Earlier, it was reported that Nick Saunders, the former CEO of Trading212, had left the firm on a mutual agreement with the management where he agreed that he was perfectly suited to head the company at its hyper-growth phase. Chowdhury’s experience at Tickmill and other leading financial firms makes him the right person to steer the company, given his impressive growth results.

Trading212 is a trading platform founded by two Bulgarian entrepreneurs, Borislav Nedialknov and Ivan Ashminov. The firm’s revenues for 2019 stood at $41 million, and the 2020 figure is expected to be considerably higher.
