The United Kingdom has implemented sanctions on many digital asset entities and crypto exchanges for the 1st time under the Russia sanctions regime. This marks a notable escalation in the country’s efforts to eliminate sanctions evasion associated with Moscow. As per the UK government’s announcement, the authorities are imposing restrictive measures to stop diverse platforms accused of providing economic resources or financial resources to Russian networks. The sanctions focus on the companies that have allegedly backed A7 Limited Liability Company and some other platforms linked with the financial sector of Russia.

UK Cracks Down on Crypto and Financial Companies Linked to Russia
The UK government’s latest sanctions are for the first time targeting crypto exchanges as well as digital asset entities under the Russia sanctions regime. The development underscores the rising worldwide scrutiny of crypto firms suspected of assisting sanctioned actors in circumventing conventional financial controls. As the sanctions list points out, the measures are included in a wider campaign to counter Russia-linked commercial and financial networks that are working internationally.
Apart from the crypto exchanges, the sanctions suite also takes into account banks, technology-related entities, brokerage firms, and banks accused of backing the economy of Russia. The exclusive list takes into account Bitpapa IC FZC LLC, Airfory LLC, Sooty Ltd, Alistera Limited, Rapira Group LLC, Arvix Limited Liability Company, and Exmo Exchange Limited. Additionally, many individuals, such as Sergey Mendeleev, Irina Rafaelyevna Akopyan, and Igor Olegovich Gorin, were also designated under the new measures. The authorities also mentioned several other individuals and entities under the accusations of making funds, goods, technology, or economic resources available for Russian financial sector’s agents.
Tightening Scrutiny over Cross-Border Cryptocurrency Transactions
According to the UK government, these companies and individuals include Liran Cohen, Huobi Global S.A., and Nueva Cryptologia Sociedad Por Acciones Simplificada de Capital Variable (S.A.S. de C.V.). Another class of sanctions comprised businesses being economically important for the Russian authorities, like Open Joint Stock Company “Virtual Asset Issuer” and Open Joint Stock Company “State Brokerage Company.” Overall, these measures also denote the rising pressure that the crypto market is facing as governments mount scrutiny of cross-border transfers dealing with digital assets.
