United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) posts mixed results

United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) stock rose 1.22% (As on October 26, 11:39:25 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company posted mixed results for the third quarter of FY 22. The company Reaffirms FY 2022 Consolidated Revenue, Adjusted Operating Margin and Adjusted Return on Invested Capital Targets. Consolidated operating profit was $3.1 billion, up 7.5% compared to the third quarter of 2021, and up 6.0% on an adjusted basis. Supply Chain Solutions Revenue decreased 6.3%, due to declines in air and ocean freight forwarding, partially offset by growth in the logistics and healthcare businesses. Operating margin of the segment was 11.3%; adjusted operating margin was 11.5%. International Segment Revenue increased 1.7%, driven by a 6.4% increase in revenue per piece. Operating margin of this segment was 20.8%; adjusted operating margin was 20.9%. U.S. Domestic Segment Revenue grew 8.2%, driven by a 9.8% increase in revenue per piece. Operating margin was 10.8%; adjusted operating margin was 11.0%.

UPS in the third quarter of FY 22 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $2.99, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $2.84, according to the Zacks Consensus Estimate. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 4.2 percent to $24.16 billion in the third quarter of FY 22, missing the analysts’ estimates for revenue by 0.65%.

For the full year 2022, the company reaffirms its consolidated financial targets of revenue of around $102 billion, an adjusted operating margin of about 13.7% and adjusted return on invested capital above 30%.

For the year, the company now expects capital expenditures to be around $5.0 billion. Dividend payments are expected to be around $5.2 billion, subject to Board approval, and share repurchases are projected to be at least $3.0 billion.

Meanwhile, the company has announced plans to acquire Bomi Group, an industry-leading multinational healthcare logistics provider. The transaction will add temperature-controlled facilities in 14 countries and nearly 3,000 highly-skilled Bomi Group team members to the UPS Healthcare network in Europe and Latin America. The acquisition will add more than 350 temperature-controlled vehicles and four million square feet (391k m2) to the UPS Healthcare global footprint, offering customers access to faster shipping times, greater production flexibility, and offerings to help them attract new business. The acquisition will play a key role in the delivery of next-generation pharmaceutical and biologic treatments that increasingly require time-critical and temperature-sensitive logistics.
