S&P 500 Slides as Nvidia Weakness Pressures Tech; Nasdaq Leads Losses
U.S. equities moved lower today, pressured by weakness in technology stocks following Nvidia’s post-earnings reaction. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 132.24 points (-0.27%) to 49,349.91. The S&P 500 declined 60.63 points (-0.87%) to 6,885.50, while the Nasdaq led losses, dropping 352.02 points (-1.52%) to 22,800.06.
The sell-off was concentrated in semiconductor and AI-related names, reflecting profit-taking after an extended rally. Nvidia’s pullback weighed on overall tech sentiment, triggering broader weakness in growth stocks. While the Dow showed relative resilience, the heavier decline in the Nasdaq suggests risk appetite in high-beta sectors is cooling. Markets are now watching whether this move develops into deeper correction or remains a short-term adjustment within the prevailing bullish trend.
Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU)
DJIA index trading lower today after initial bullish attempt. It looks like the index will continue moving sideways and waiting for more confirmation. Overall, the bullish structure has not changed yet, and we expect upward continuation to retest 50,000. If the index pushed lower, then the trend line will become the support level to watch.
Dominion Energy, Inc (D)
D share prices printed new higher swing high and currently down in a bearish correction. It has tested the broken swing high and show slight bounce reactions. However, there is no upward continuation which mean the share prices might continue moving near the broken level. Traders could use the level as place to enter long positions. If bearish correction continue below the level, then the EMA 100 & 200 could become the target.
