U.S. stocks slide sharply after renewed tariff fears and risk aversion
U.S. equities remain under heavy pressure today, with selling momentum accelerating into the session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 865 points (-1.75%), while the S&P 500 has fallen 138 points (-2.00%). The Nasdaq Composite is leading the decline, sliding 533 points (-2.27%), reflecting continued weakness.
Risk sentiment has deteriorated following renewed tariff threats and geopolitical uncertainty tied to the Greenland dispute, which have weighed on global markets and prompted a shift toward defensive positioning. Traders are scaling back exposure to higher-risk assets, and downside moves are increasingly being treated as part of a broader risk-off adjustment rather than short-term buying opportunities.
Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU)
DJIA index gapped down and continue moving lower as geopolitical uncertainties turning up. The index has moved below previously broken swing high and might extend the weakness to test previous swing low also the trend line. Under current situation, it is better to wait until the bearish pressure subside near support level before deciding to enter long positions in stocks. On the lower side, the EMA 100 and the trend line might become the support level to watch.
Connoco Phillips (COP)
COP share prices has returned above the EMA 100 & 200 also print bullish structure higher high & higher low. The share prices is currently under pressure and look swill retest the averages. Traders could wait until the share prices bottoming near the averages to enter long positions. However, if bearish movement gain momentum and close below the averages then traders will wait near the bottom of channel for reactions.
