Nasdaq Surges on Chip Demand as Dow Jones Probes the 53,000 Milestone
Wall Street kicked off the new trading week with strong upward momentum, driven heavily by a powerful surge in technology and semiconductor stocks. The tech-led rally pushed the Nasdaq Composite up by over 1%, while the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average briefly crossed above the historic 53,000 threshold for the very first time before settling just under it in late afternoon trading.
Currently, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is up 89.96 points (+0.17%) at 52,990.03. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 has climbed 60.13 points (+0.80%) to trade at 7,543.37, and the Nasdaq Composite is leading the market’s advance, jumping 303.684 points (+1.18%) to reach 26,136.356.
Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU)
The DJIA remains firmly on its path higher, printing a fresh higher high during today’s session and briefly hitting unchartered territory above 53,000. Following this breakout, the index is technically set to target the 127.2% Fibonacci Extension level as its next major structural objective. As price action nears this key extension area, aggressive buying momentum may slow down. Traders will want to closely watch the real-time candlestick reaction near this target level to gauge whether the index has fuel for a sustained extension or if a short-term pullback is on the horizon.
Riot Platforms, Inc. (RIOT)
The share prices is currently undergoing a bearish correction, recently testing the EMA 100 support level where it has managed to find a temporary bounce. If the stock fails to hold this support, a deeper pullback toward the EMA 200 and the $20.00 level is likely. Conversely, if the price maintains its current position and continues to bounce, it could confirm a higher low, providing traders with a solid setup to begin adding long positions.
