Positive sentiment before jobless claim data

The U.S stock market futures mostly higher today before the announcement of jobless claim data. Traders and analysts are expecting 3000k claims, compared to previous 3839k claims. Meanwhile, China posted a better than expected export data in April. Export increased by 3.5% vs. -15.7% expectation.

From abroad, BOE set the interest-rate steady at 0.1%. The central banks expect the UK economy to contract 14% in 2020.

The Asian stock market mixed in today’s trading session. Japan stock market up 55.42 points (+0.28%) to 19,674.77, China stock market down 6.62 points (-0.23%) to 2,871.52 and Australia ASX 200 down 20.40 points (-0.38%) to 5,364.20. The European stock market takes a higher approach today. DAX Germany up 0.85%, FTSE UK up 0.60%, Euro STOXX 600 up 0.61%

Technical Analysis

Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU)

DJIA futures upward more than 200 points which indicates a higher opening level. Not much to expect in DJIA for now as the index continues to trade inside 22,500 – 24,250 range. It is expected to continues consolidation near the SMA 50 and the resistance 24,250. Traders will wait for further updates on the coronavirus and the economic data for now.

Johnson & Johnson Com (JNJ)

JNJ share prices traded above the daily SMA 200 and maintain the bullish trend for now. If the share prices pushed lower then traders could consider long positions near the $140.00 support and the daily SMA 200. Traders might want to refrain from entering short positions as the trend is bullish for JNJ.
