Dow Retakes 50,000 Milestone as Cisco Surge Lifts Markets
U.S. equities showed broad strength on Wednesday, sweeping aside previous inflation concerns as a rally in blue-chip components propelled major averages higher. Leading the charge, the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged back above a critical psychological threshold, supported by a jump in Cisco shares. By early afternoon, the market snapshot reflected a sea of green across the board: the S&P 500 climbed 59.28 points (0.80%) to 7,503.53, while the Nasdaq Composite erased previous selling pressure, rising 264.31 points (1.00%) to 26,666.654.
Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU)
The DJIA index has successfully extended its upward movement, printing a new higher high during today’s session. While the price is currently trading slightly lower than the absolute top of the day, the index maintains a strong bullish posture. The Dow surged more than 300 points to retake the 50,000 level, a move that significantly shifts the near-term technical outlook. If the index can sustain a close above the 50,000 mark, it will target the record high and the 127.2% Fibonacci extension level. As of the midday update, the index was trading at 50,038.71, up 345.51 points or 0.70%.
Fastly, Inc. (FSLY)
Fastly shares remain under significant pressure as the market continues to digest the company’s latest financial results. While Fastly actually beat analyst expectations on both top and bottom lines and raised its full-year guidance, the stock has faced a sharp sell-off as investors recalibrate after a period of high valuation and intense growth expectations. The downward trend has not yet lost its momentum, but the stock is rapidly approaching a critical “cluster” of major technical levels
The share price is nearing the EMA 200 ($16.17), which coincides with the 127.2% and 138.2% Fibonacci extension levels. This area is identified as a high-probability reaction zone where the price may begin to stabilize following the post-earnings volatility
