US Stock market Technical Analysis October 26, 2017

Futures positive, tech on the line

U.S futures positive today before market open following previous day sell-off. Major news will come from technology side as Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), Conoco Phillips (NYSE: COP), and Hershey (NYSE: HSY) will report earnings before the market open. Ford (NYSE: F) is the first to report today, the company share prices up 1.8% in pre-market as the company reported eps of $0.46 vs. $0.33 expected. Revenue comes out at $36.5 billion vs. $32.9 billion consensuses.

After the market close, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) will rock the market with each earnings result.

Asian stock market on track higher. Nikkei up 32.16 points (+0.15%) to 21,739.78, Shang Hai Composite up 11.35 points (+0.33%) to 3,408.24, and Australia ASX 200 up 10.70 points (+0.18%) to 5,916.30. European stock market also shining in green. DAX Germany up 0.34%, FTSE UK up 0.45% and Euro STOXX 600 up 0.34%.

Technical Analysis

Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU)

Dow Jones Industrial Averages slide in the previous trading day after the market translated weak earnings report from AMD and CMG as a signal to sell stocks. The selling was limited though as the index recover almost 50% of its losses. Today, DJIA ready to rechallenge the high with the futures pointed up 24 points before market open.

Eli Lilly & Co (LLY)

LLY retreat from the top after the share prices closed the gap produced on April this year. There is a possibility the share prices will continue its downward correction toward the cluster of averages. Traders could look for long position when the share prices hit the cluster of averages. However, it is better to observe the downward momentum before jumping in position.

SLB – The share prices beaten up by the bear, but it shows bullish reversal sign with increasing volume at the low. SLB might reverse its trend with strong momentum.

WEN – Bullish pin from daily SMA 200, might continue upward.

UNP – The company report earnings result today, there is a possibility the share prices move down to test cluster of daily averages and reverse upside.
