Stock indices struggle to notch gains

Dow Jones Industrial Averages traded soft today, pulled down by Boeing (NYSE: BA). The company holds out information regarding its latest change on aircraft. The share prices down 2.46% at the current time while DJIA down 136.83 points (-0.54%), Nasdaq composite up 4.89 points (+0.17%), S&P 500 down 2.75 points (-0.10%).

Tuesday trading session showing lack of direction as DJIA flirting back and forth the opening level. It seems the market approaching Fed President speech on Wednesday with a cautious approach. We have mixed news to crunch today. A report said U.S-China high trade talk resumed ahead of President Trump – Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting later this month.

Aside from Jerome Powell speech, there is a splurge of data which make traders reluctant to enter the equity market. On Wednesday, we will have inflation data followed by retail sales on Thursday.

Boeing slide on data withhold

The company reported withholding information on 737 MAX 8 and 9 models regarding its automated stall-prevention system which might create potential danger. The system intended to aid pilot to avoid rising plane’s nose too high. However, the potential fault in the system could push the plane’s nose down “Unexpectedly and so strongly” that pilot could not pull back up, said by wall street journal.

The faulty in the system suspected as the main reason behind the fatal crash of Lion Air in Indonesia.

Gold down $3.10 (-0.26%) to $1,200.40, Crude oil down $4.60 (-7.68%) to $55.33. U.S dollar index down 0.28 (-0.29%) to 97.36

Asian stock market mixed. Nikkei down 459.36 points (-2.06%) to 21,810.52, Shanghai Composite up 24.36 points (+0.93%) to 2,654.88, Australia ASX down 107.10 points (-1.80) to 5,834.20.

European stock market closed higher. DAX Germany up 1.30%, FTSE UK up 0.01%, and Euro STOXX 600 up 0.67%.
