USD jumped on Tuesday to a one-week high against a basket of world currencies, with a third gain in the last four days.  this comes as investors await important data from USA on producer prices during December.

USD index rose more than 0.4% to 95.55 points, the highest level in a week, where the opening level of trading today at 95.16 points, and the lowest level at 95.05 points.

Yesterday the index lost about 0.1%, the first loss in three days, with the retreat from the three-month low at 94.62.

The rise in the dollar is currently driving up investment demand levels on USD as the best alternative investment, as the major currencies in Europe face the Euro and the British pound rising risks, especially ahead of the British Parliament vote on the initial agreement for the UK’s separation from EU.

Most of the indicators show that the parliament rejected this agreement by a small majority. The vote may lead to a number of possibilities, including the collapse of the British government led by Therese May, the chaotic exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union, or the complete disengagement in the next few weeks.

Investors are expected to release important data from the United States on inflation levels in the country later today, as producer price data, a leading indicator of consumer prices, “the main measure of inflation”, will release positive data that will extend the gains of the US currency against most currencies.

The producer price index (PPI) is expected to drop by 0.1% in December from 0.1% in November, with the same index excluding food and fuel prices expected to rise 0.2% from a reading reading of 0.3% Previous.
