Visa Inc (NYSE:V) Net Income Rises 17%

Visa Inc (NYSE:V) stock rose 0.79% (As on April 24, 11:14:55 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company sailed past Wall Street estimates on Tuesday, as consumers shrugged off worries of a slowing economy to swipe cards on everything from travel to dining out. Adjusted net income for the fiscal second quarter rose 17% to $5.1 billion. In the US, where Visa gets more than 40% of its revenue, credit-card spending grew 6.2% from a year earlier. Worldwide payments volume climbed 8% and total processed transactions rose 11% to 55.5 billion. Cross-border volume excluding transactions within Europe, which drives our international transaction revenue, increased 16% on a constant-dollar basis for the three months ended March 31, 2024. Total cross-border volume on a constantdollar basis increased 16% in the quarter. Cash, cash equivalents and investment securities were $20.8 billion at March 31, 2024.

V in the second quarter of FY 24 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $2.51, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $2.44, according to LSEG estimates. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 10 percent to $8.8 billion in the second quarter of FY 24, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $8.62 billion. Fiscal second quarter service revenue was $4.0 billion, an increase of 7% over the prior year, and is recognized based on payments volume in the prior quarter. All other revenue categories are recognized based on current quarter activity. Data processing revenue rose 12% over the prior year to $4.3 billion. International transaction revenue grew 9% over the prior year to $3.0 billion. Other revenue of $756 million rose 37% over the prior year. Client incentives were $3.3 billion, up 12% over the prior year.

For the fiscal third quarter, Visa anticipates revenue growth in the low double-digits, with similar expectations for the full year.

For its third-quarter EPS, Visa expects them to be at the high end of the low double-digits range, with full-year EPS growth expected in the low teens. The company also reaffirmed its 2024 revenue and profit forecasts.

On the other hand, Visa announced it completed its acquisition of Pismo, a global cloud-native issuer processing and core banking platform. With the transaction complete, the combination of Visa and Pismo will provide clients with core banking and card-issuer processing capabilities across all product types via cloud-native APIs. In addition, Visa announced that it agreed to a landmark settlement with U.S. merchants, more than 90 percent of which are small businesses, lowering credit interchange rates and capping those rates into 2030.
