Visa Inc (NYSE:V) transactions rose 21%

Visa Inc (NYSE:V) stock rose 8.59% (As on Jan 28, 12:17:20 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company reported transactions rose 21% to $47.6 billion during the quarter compared with a year earlier. Cross-border volumes rose 40%, marked by a steep increase in travel between September and November when the U.S. border and most of the borders within Europe reopened. The company’s bottom line came in at $3.96 billion in the first quarter of FY 22  compared with $3.13 billion, in last year’s first quarter. Cash, cash equivalents and investment securities were $18.0 billion at December 31, 2021.

V in the first quarter of FY 22 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $1.81, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $1.70, according to IBES data from Refinitiv. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 24.1 percent to $7.1 billion in the first quarter of FY 22, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $6.77 billion. Fiscal first quarter service revenues were $3.2 billion, an increase of 19% over the prior year, and are recognized based on payments volume in the prior quarter. All other revenue categories are recognized based on current quarter activity. Data processing revenues rose 19% over the prior year to $3.6 billion. International transaction revenues grew 50% over the prior year to $2.2 billion. Other revenues of $449 million rose 17% over the prior year. Client incentives, a contrarevenue item, were $2.4 billion and represented 25.1% of gross revenues.

Additionally, during the quarter, Visa has repurchased 19.4 million shares of class A common stock at an average price of $210.05 per share for $4.1 billion. On December 13, 2021, the company has authorized a new $12.0 billion class A common stock share repurchase program. The Company had $12.6 billion of remaining authorized funds for share repurchase as of December 31, 2021. The company has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.375 per share of class A common stock payable on March 1, 2022, to all holders of record as of February 11, 2022.

On the other hand, the company has completed the acquisition of Currencycloud, a global platform that enables banks and fintechs to provide innovative foreign exchange solutions for cross-border payments. The acquisition will empower Visa and Currencycloud clients and partners to provide greater transparency, flexibility and control for consumers and businesses when making international payments or doing business in multiple currencies.
