Volatile stock to watch: IHS Markit Ltd (NASDAQ: INFO)

IHS Markit Ltd (NASDAQ: INFO) stock fell over 2% on March 26th, 2019 (as of 11:55 am GMT-4; Source: Google finance) after the company posted mixed results for the first quarter of 2019. The company for the first quarter of 2019 has reported the net income of $109 million, the adjusted EBITDA of $408 million and Adjusted earnings per diluted share (Adjusted EPS) of $0.60. Net income attributable to IHS Markit for the quarter ended February 28, 2018 includes a one-time tax benefit associated with U.S. tax reform estimated at approximately $136 million. During the quarter, the cash flow from operations is of $188 million and free cash flow is of $125 million.

INFO in the first quarter of 2019 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 60 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 57 cents, as per Zacks Consensus Estimate. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 12 percent to $1046.4 million in the first quarter of 2019, missing the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $1060 million. This includes the total organic revenue growth of 5 percent. First quarter revenue for Resources increased $12 million, or 6 percent, to $217 million, with recurring revenue increasing 5 percent organically. First quarter revenue for Transportation increased $19 million, or 7 percent, to $288 million, and included 9 percent organic growth for the recurring-based business. First quarter revenue for CMS decreased $5 million, or 4 percent, to $132 million, and had no organic growth for the recurring-based business. First quarter revenue for Financial Services increased $90 million, or 28 percent, to $409 million, and included 6 percent total organic growth.

Moreover, the first quarter adjusted EBITDA for Resources increased $8 million, or 10 percent, to $93 million. First quarter Adjusted EBITDA for Transportation increased $5 million, or 4 percent, to $114 million. First quarter Adjusted EBITDA for CMS decreased $2 million, or 8 percent, to $29 million. First quarter Adjusted EBITDA for Financial Services increased $38 million, or 26 percent, to $183 million.

IHS Markit has reaffirmed its fiscal 2019 guidance.  Revenues are expected to be in the range of $4.425 billion to $4.5 billion, including organic growth of 6% to 7% (including Ipreo). Adjusted EBITDA is expected to be in the range of $1.75 billion to $1.78 billion. Adjusted EPS is anticipated to be in the range of $2.52 to $2.57.
