Why Godaddy Inc (NYSE: GDDY) stock is crashing

Godaddy Inc (NYSE: GDDY) stock lost over 9.8% on 2nd August 2019 (as of 10:55 am GMT-4 ; Source: Google finance) as the company posted mixed results for the second quarter of FY 19. The company said it’s Chief Executive Officer Scott Wagner would step down after it reported a quarterly loss on sluggish customer growth and higher costs, sending shares down as much as 5% in extended trading. Net loss attributable to the company was $12.6 million in the quarter ended June 30, compared with a net income of $18.1 million a year earlier. At June 30, 2019, total cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments were $1,222.4 million, total debt was $2,444.8 million and net debt was $1,222.4 million.

Further, the company said Wagner, leaving for health reasons, would be replaced by Aman Bhutani, who most recently served as president of Brand Expedia Group.

The company’s efforts, however, led to a 5.5% increase in new customers in the reported quarter, down from 6.5% in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, costs rose nearly 18% to $718.3 million (£592.8 million), compared with the average analyst estimate of $441 million.

GDDY in the second quarter of FY 19 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 1 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 16 cents, according to IBES data from Refinitiv. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 13.1 percent to $737.2 million in the second quarter of FY 19, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $735.4 million. The company posted the total bookings of $846.1 million, up 12.2% year over year, or approximately 13.9% on a constant currency basis. The company posted the average revenue per user (ARPU) of $153, up 7.8% year over year. The company reported the Domains’ revenue of $334.4 million, up 9.7% year over year.  Hosting and Presence revenue is of $279.8 million, up 14.4% year over year. Business Applications revenue is of $123.0 million, up 20.4% year over year and International revenue of $247.7 million, up 6.2% year over year, or approximately 10.5% on a constant currency basis.

For FY 19, the company expects $2.97 billion to $3 billion in revenue and expects third-quarter revenue to be between $755 million and $765 million, the mid-point of which was below analysts’ estimate of $761.3 million. For the full year 2019, GoDaddy expects unlevered free cash of approximately $730 million to $745 million, representing full-year growth of 18% to 20% versus 2018. GoDaddy expects full-year cash interest payments of approximately $80 million to $85 million.
